Victorian Shell Cameo Brooch in Silver — Putti at the Forge

A finely carved Victorian shell cameo brooch depicting two winged putti beside a classical forge, rendered in high relief with strong contrast against a rich burnt sienna ground. Set within a simple silver mount.

Scenes of playful putti engaged in mythological or artisanal pursuits were a popular neoclassical subject in 19th century cameo carving, drawing inspiration from classical Roman and Renaissance imagery.

Fitted with a secure pin and a small loop allowing the piece to be worn as a pendant.
